In specialty care, persistent challenges like overutilization; fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA); and wide variations in provider performance continue to strain healthcare systems and drive up costs. Health plans often respond by making across-the-board reimbursement cuts, narrowing networks, and implementing complex utilization management (UM) protocols, swinging from higher oversight to little or none. However, these approaches can delay member care, frustrate providers, and rarely deliver meaningful impact.
What’s often overlooked is the opportunity to apply value-based care models in specialty disciplines, such as eye care, dermatology, outpatient therapy, and more. These areas are ripe for transformation but are frequently excluded from value-based strategies.
In this webinar, we’ll explore how value-based therapy models offer a smarter, more sustainable path forward for single specialties such as these. By aligning incentives, reducing administrative burden, and rewarding quality outcomes, value-based programs can address the root causes of inefficiency without penalizing high-performing providers. While not a one-size-fits-all solution, it’s a model that works for most and delivers measurable benefits for members, providers, and payers alike.
We’ll also be joined by CORA Physical Therapy, a leading outpatient therapy provider with more than 250 clinics across 10 states. They will share their insights into the strategic application of value-based care in therapy and explain why this discipline is a strong candidate for innovative payment and care delivery models.
Learning Objectives
Identify the key challenges in specialty care – such as overutilization, FWA, and large variations in provider utilization – and understand why traditional cost-control strategies often fall short.
Explore how value-based care models can be applied to specialty disciplines like eye care, dermatology, and outpatient therapy to improve outcomes, reduce administrative burden, and ensure fair provider compensation.
Examine a real-world case study from CORA Physical Therapy to understand how value-based care can be implemented and the measurable impact on cost, quality, and provider satisfaction.
