Snow dyeing yarn is a lot of fun, but what can you do if you want to try this technique and you don't have any snow? In this video, we will apply dry KoolAid and liquid food coloring drops to a KnitPicks Stroll Sock Blank http://shrsl.com/stri (Affiliate Link) to see what kinds of random patterns we can create.
VIDEO CONTENTS:
[0:00] Introduction to ice dyeing
[0:57] Adding the ice cubes on top of the presoaked blank (presoaked in plain water)
[3:45] Adding KoolAid (5 packets of Lemonade) and food coloring (various McCormick's regular and NEON colors) to the ice
[8:39] Time for the ice to melt!
[9:03] After melting for 1 hour
[9:41] After 3 hours of melting
[10:40] 11 Hours after we added the ice and food coloring, and the ice is all melted!
[11:50] Wrapping up the yarn to microwave it (we need the heat to set the color)
[13:01] Microwaving the yarn - 4 min on high (in 2 min increments)
