Foundation First – Day One | Strong Foundations Before Everything Else
Foundation First is a structured beginner programme designed to build strength, control, and consistency through correct movement patterns. This series focuses on doing the basics properly, creating a solid physical foundation that supports long-term progress, injury prevention, and confidence in training.
Day One introduces controlled, foundational movements that develop lower-body strength, upper-body pulling mechanics, core stability, and breathing awareness. These exercises are intentionally simple, allowing you to focus on posture, alignment, and quality rather than speed or intensity.
Today’s Session Includes
Squat Progression
The squat is a fundamental human movement. In this session, the focus is on controlled depth, correct foot placement, upright posture, and smooth tempo. This builds leg strength, hip mobility, and movement confidence.
Row with Resistance Bands
Band rows develop the upper back, shoulders, and arms while reinforcing good posture. This movement supports shoulder health and balances pushing exercises commonly overused in training.
Standing Marches
Standing marches improve balance, coordination, and core control. This exercise teaches you how to stabilise through the mid-section while moving the limbs, which is essential for all athletic movement.
Breathing (Cool-Down and Reset)
Breathing at the end of the session helps regulate the nervous system, improve recovery, and reinforce proper breathing mechanics. This is a key part of training that is often overlooked.
