PROJECT STEPS
1. You work in the student housing department at Riverside University, and you are preparing a presentation that describes housing options and campus living resources for new students. You have started developing your slides and now want to enhance them with shapes, SmartArt, and other design elements.
Begin by adding slide numbers to all slides except the title slide. Then type Riverside University Student Housing as the footer text.
2. On the title slide, insert the Rectangle: Rounded Corners shape located in the Rectangles area and then resize it to a height of 4.5" and a width of 5.5". [Mac Hint – Insert the Rounded Rectangle shape located in the Rectangle Shapes area.]
Insert the file Support_PPT365_EOM2-1_Kitchen.jpg as a picture fill in the shape. Display the Smart Guides and then position the shape as shown in Figure 1.

3. On Slide 2 ("Student Housing Options"), convert the bulleted list into the Basic Block List SmartArt graphic located in the List category. [Mac Hint – Mac users will convert the bulleted list to a Hierarchy List SmartArt graphic first, and then change the graphic to Basic Block List using the SmartArt Design tab.] Change the SmartArt style to Moderate Effect located in the Best Match for Document area.
4. With Slide 2 still displaying, insert the Arrow: Right shape located in the Block Arrow area and then resize it to a height of 1.5" and a width of 2". Change the fill color to Lime, Accent 3, Lighter 80% (7th column, 2nd row in the Theme Colors palette). Then, insert the Rectangle shape located in the Rectangles area and resize it to a height of 1.5" and a width of 1.5". Change the shape fill color to Lime, Accent 3, Lighter 80% to match the arrow. Position the rectangle shape so it appears similar to Figure 2.

5. With Slide 2 still displaying, merge the two shapes using the Union command. Type Mandatory Meal Plan into the shape, change the text color to Black, Text 1, then apply Bold. Apply the Glow: 8 point; Green, Accent color 1 Glow effect (1st column, 2nd row in the Shape Effects palette) to the merged shape.
6. With Slide 2 still displaying, position the shape so the arrow points to "Shared Room." Copy the shape and then paste it on the slide. Move the copied shape so the arrow points to "Studio Suite." Copy the shape again and move the copied shape so the arrow points to "Four Bedroom Suite." Change the text in the middle shape to Optional Meal Plan. Change the text in the bottom shape to No Meal Plan. Align all three shapes along the left side. Compare the slide to Figure 3.

7. On Slide 3 ("Campus Living Resources"), change the fill color of the top rectangle ("Counselor in Residence") to Lime, Accent 3 (7th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette), the second rectangle ("Fitness Facilities") to Lime, Accent 2 (6th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette), the third rectangle ("Residence Parking") to Green, Accent 1 (5th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette), and the bottom rectangle ("Sustainability Features") to Dark Green, Text 2 (4th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette).
8. Resize each rectangle to a width of 8" and then apply the Angle Bevel effect to all four rectangles. Align the left edges of these four rectangles and then distribute them vertically.
9. With Slide 3 still displaying, change the Star shape fill color to Yellow in the Standard Colors palette, the outline weight to 4½ point, and then add the Perspective: Turned Right, Tilted Up 3-D Rotation effect. [Mac Hint – Mac users will choose the Perspective Heroic Extreme Right effect.]
10. Use the Smart Guides to move the Star so that it slightly overlaps the top rectangle. Send the Star to the back and adjust its position, as shown in Figure 4.

11. Apply the Push transition and then apply the From Top effect option to all three slides.
In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the website to submit your completed project.
