H there, Liron here! Today I want to talk to you about developing your own artistic style (:

I hope to offer some fresh advice you may have not heard before.
I have two main tips.

🎤 1. FOCUSING ON THE BASICS 🎤

The basic are what I consider anything that is derived from the medium itself, and the field of art in which you are.

It is stripped of style. It's what everyone who's good have in common.

Examples relevant to watercolor painting are: Color theory, different wash and blending techniques, composition and so on.

🎤 2. INSPIRATION AND ISOLATION 🎤

This is the idea of alternating between two extremes.

On the one hand, I go through periods when I allow myself to be inspired by other artists' work.

I'll really dive deeper into their techniques, I'll do studies and so on.

But after a month or so, I switch gears and move into isolation. This is just me and the paint. I don't look at anyone else.

All I do is focus on myself.

This slowly builds your skill set in a very truthful and unique way, while allowing you to learn from others.
