Описание: Buenos días a todos!!! Good morning, everyone!!! Lifetime Train Boy here and today I present a railway adventure that I never ever imagined until this year!

On Monday May 6, 2024, I graduated from Saint Paul College in the Twin Cities of Minnesota with my Associate of Science Degree in Broad Engineering. To celebrate the combined accomplishments, I spent time with my family in Guatemala during Friday May 9 through Saturday May 18.

On Friday May 17, three of my folks and I visited the Museo del Ferrocarril in the historic railway station in downtown Guatemala City. That day, I had anticipated that I would simply mill around and check out the static exhibits representing Ferrovías Guatemala (FVG). This was because not a single train had ever run in Guatemala since 2007, except for an excursion in 2023.

El Viernes 17 de Mayo, tres de mis familiares y yo visitamos el Museo del Ferrocarril en la estación ferroviaria historica en el centro de la Ciudad de Guatemala. Ese día, había anticipado que simplemente daría vueltas y revisaría las exhibiciones estáticas representando Ferrovías Guatemala (FVG). Esto fue porque no había circulado un solo tren en Guatemala desde 2007, con la excepción de un tren de excursión en 2023.

Little did I know what I was in for! ¡No sabía lo que me esperaba!

To my astonishment, a special passenger excursion train with General Electric "Baby U-Boat" (part of the GE Universal Series) diesel locomotive number 917 was being operated for a school group who was also visiting the museum that day. That was serendipitous enough!

Para mi asombro, un tren especial de excursión de pasajeros con la locomotora diésel General Electric "Baby U-Boat" (parte de la serie GE Universal) número 917 estaba operando para un grupo escolar que también estaba visitando el museo ese día. ¡Eso fue lo suficientemente serendipito!

First moment, I thought I was going to document the train's departure and return from the station platform. But the next moment, the team invited us aboard! Just try to imagine my thrill and joy at an experience I had never imagined would be possible!

En primer momento, pensé que iba a documentar la salida del tren y el regreso de la plataforma de la estación. ¡Pero al siguiente momento, el equipo nos invitó a bordo! ¡Solo trata de imaginar mi emoción y alegría por una experiencia que nunca había imaginado que sería posible!

Special thanks to Engineers Alan Roberto and Mario Morales, our tour guide José Alberto, and all the staff at El Museo del Ferrocarril for making this once-in-a-lifetime experience possible, for making it one of my fondest and most cherished memories, and for their generosity and friendship! No words can describe how grateful I am for this experience and how grateful I am to have met and gotten to know you!
