TMB Day 6: Crossing into Switzerland via Grand Col Ferret | Wind, Wildflowers & the Swiss Alps

Описание: Day 6 on the Tour du Mont Blanc took us from Courmayeur, Italy to La Fouly, Switzerland, crossing the high point of Grand Col Ferret (8,323 ft / 2,537 m)—the border between the two countries.

The climb up was long, cold, and windy, our first real reminder that alpine weather can turn quickly. Jackets, hats, and gloves definitely came out! But once over the pass, the scenery shifted dramatically: Switzerland greeted us with lush green slopes, rolling pastures, and bursts of purple wildflowers along the trail.

We opted for the alternative route from La Peule to La Fouly, which offered fewer crowds and even more striking views. After 9+ miles, thousands of feet of elevation change, and nearly 6.5 hours on trail, we rewarded ourselves with a blissfully hot shower and a private room at Gîte de La Fouly.

⬆️ Elevation gain: 2,861 ft (872 m)
⬇️ Elevation loss: 3,399 ft (1,036 m)
⏱️ Hiking time: 5 hrs moving / 6.5 hrs total

💡 TMB Tip: Always carry layers—conditions at the cols can change fast.
