Cody Cloverleaf Pattern

Описание: Yes!!! Yay!!! The Cloverleaf Pattern is my Go-To Exercise for steering, guiding, cadence, focus and balance.

This is Sandy and Cody and this is Week 5 in our "Getting In Shape" series and this exercise will push Cody's cardio just a little bit. It's time to push and stress him just a little and he rocked it.

Use this exercise when you want to perfect your guiding, steering and balance and when you want to work on their cardio...this exercise will put a sweat on him...be sure to allow them to rest and air up in between before moving on to the other direction.

The Cloverleaf Pattern is 5 cones, 4 cones around the perimeter and 1 cone in the middle. Your circle is approximately 20 feet circle, don't make it too small, otherwise it's too hard for them in the beginning to complete the circle around the leaf's. I included a diagram of AQHA's cloverleaf pattern for your reference. Now, they have a box in the middle which represents poles, which is an advanced maneuver in your training. You don't have to set up poles until you feel you are ready to practice the cloverleaf over poles, until then, leave the poles out of your pattern...No Big Deal!

Start out slow, at a trot and then go to the lope. Remember...Less is More

It's ugly at first and they will break gait, no big deal, just keep going and keep at it until they settle in and follow their nose, bend into the circle and hunt for the circle. Use two hands if necessary. Just ask them to stay on the circle and shape them into the circle with your inside rein.

Look up and focus on your cones and keep going....You and your horse got this!
