This board was all the rage in 2020. It was run as a Korea only groupbuy for about $300 ish dollars. That is a freaking steal for this board. The board tops almost ever other board that I have experienced in terms of sound and feel. It feels heavy, it sounds great, and the typing experience is wonderful.
The mods done to this are the purchased silicone gaskets for the top. The installation was straightforward enough and did not use any adhesive. The typing experience using the silicone gaskets on top was very bouncy and fun to type on.
The sound of this thing is also amazing and I attribute a lot of that to the case design as well as the pure heft of this board - it's a chonker.
For the switch itself the creamsicle is a frankenswitch that make the tangerine housing sound better. The cream stem has a longer cent LOL that introduced a cleaner bottom out sound a clack. This is because the center pole impacts the housing at bottom out first rather than the stem sliders into the housing rails. Also, this results in shorter travel in use. This is similar to why the Holy Pandas sound different than other tactiles - because it has a longer stem. A lot of people use cream stems in other linears to utilize this trait to create different sounding switches. It’s not always recommended for beginners because it costs a lot to use two whole switches to make one.. as the leftover parts don’t really amount to a usable switch (cream housings sound bad).
The front height is not the worst but it is a bit on the taller end of the spectrum. The typing angle of 9 degrees is a little rough though. A wrist rest is highly recommended.
This might be my favorite sounding TKL. I'm excited to see the other Geonworks products as he is going to do a F2-8X with some upgrades as well as more budget version that has a lower front height and less steep typing angle. 2021 is going to be a big year for TKLs.
