It's my pleasure to present to you the winning entry of the Sonic Hacking Contest 2017 - Metal Sonic Rebooted! Dr.Robotnik has developed an advanced army of badniks to search for the Chaos Emeralds and it's up to Metal Sonic to find the Emeralds before them by destroying everything in his path to show Robotnik that shouldn't even think of replacing his greatest creation......

For those who don't know, The Sonic Hacking Contest is an annual event in the Sonic the Hedgehog community where ROM hacks or modifications of various Sonic the Hedgehog games are submitted to be evaluated by a selection of judges and awarded trophies based on a number of aspects.

Using the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 engine and many aspects from Sonic CD and Knuckles Chaotix, Lone Devil has developed a truly great fangame that is tons of fun to play!

My personal favourite feature is the 'ring spend' mechanic. Metal Sonic has all the abilities Sonic has BUT for the price of a few Rings, he has access to more abilities such as a vertical boost (to gain more height), Metal's own version of Sonic's Super Peel Out and even the ability to 'overclock' his systems, granting him higher speed and invulnerability but at the cost of rapid ring depletion. Rings carry over between Acts and you only lose 15 Rings each time you get hit (on Normal Mode) so if you have enough Rings, so you can play more recklessly, aggressively and liberally make use of Metal's extended abilities! Super Transformation brings more abilities to the table if you manage to collect all of the Emeralds as well. Download Link is below.
