Today on our 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T1 vehicle wiring harness with floor pull flat trailer connector, part number 118675. When we're ready to hitch up out trailer, we can take our floor flat connector that's going to be stored away in this pocket on the passenger side of our vehicle. We'll lay it across the back of the vehicle, across the weather stripping. You just want to make sure you keep away from the center here so that we don't pinch it into the latch and then just close our hatch down on top of it and plug it into our trailer and then when we're done, we simply open it back up. We'll take our wire and we'll just kind of bunch it up and we can take our weather tight tap and use it to capture our wiring and keep it nicely tucked away. Now it's a nice little package we can put down inside the back here. Reinstall our cover and it's all completely hidden away. That's what our kit's going to consist of.
We're going to have our module box with our floor pull flat trailer connector and weather tight cover. We'll have our T1 connections that will go between our tail lights. Our twelve volt power wire that's going to run from the module light up to the front of the vehicle into the battery, our fuse holder, fuse, miscellaneous hardware and some two sided tape to mount of module box. Now the module box is going to help isolate your trailer from your vehicle's wiring, therefore if you ever got a short in your wiring in your trailer, it's not going to effect the vehicle's wiring causing any issues. This is going to be a complete plug and play. We're not going to have to cut or splice any wiring.
The only thing we're going to have tie into is our battery with our twelve volt wiring. Now let's go ahead and show you how to install it. Our first step is going to be remove the floor of our vehicle and we'll set that aside. We're also going to need to remove these access panels in here along either side. I'm going to set those aside as well. Now we're going to need to remove both of our rear tail lights. We're going to start by removing this trim panel that goes over our tail light.
We'll take a screw driver or a panel tool, you want to just gently pry. Going to pop off those two clips here and we'll slide up out of the way. We'll do that for both sides. Now we're going to take a T25 torque bit, remove the two screws at the very back here and then on the inside there's going to be a plastic Phillips headed screw that goes through the outside. We're just going to turn that a small amount and it'll release the outside of the tail light. It's going to be this white clip here and that will release our tail light.
We can pull our tail light forward, slide back this red safety clip or lock and we'll push down this little black tab inside there and remove our light. We'll do the same thing for both sides. We're going to need to remove this rear seal plate here to run our wiring but in order to do that we're going to have to go ahead and take out the spare tire and all these compartments here. We'll loosen the spare tire up, we'll remove it and set it aside. We'll just take it apart in two sections. We're going to have two plastic clips, push pins under the side. We're going to need to just take a little pick and pop the center of it out and then we can remove the outside. We'll do that for both sides. Once you get the center raised up, just pop out the center piece. We're going to pull out on a seal plate. We'll pull straight up, releasing the tabs across the center and we're going to set this aside. Now we're going to go ahead and take our green wire out of our module box. We're going to reach inside and push the wire from our passenger side tail light, push it back in, we're going to plug it in, our T connector into there, push in our lock to make sure it's nice and tight and we're going to feed this back through and come back out in a tail light pocket. We'll just let that set there. Then we're going to reinstall our passenger side tail light. We'll plug in our T connector. You'll hear it clip, push in our lock, give it a tug and we're going to feed our T1 connector back inside and slide our tail light back into position and we can reinstall our screws. The last thing we'll have to do is take that Phillips screwdriver from the inside and we'll turn it back ninet
