About this Video (Part 2)
This video covers days four and five of an eight-day road trip from Kolkata to Navi Mumbai, traveling through Rajahmundry and Hyderabad. The trip highlights the importance of the Godavari River in Rajahmundry and includes visits to Antarvedi and Yanam.
Key moments from the trip:
Exploring Rajahmundry (1:21): The day starts with a morning stroll and observing local customs like drawing "muggus" at doorsteps (1:30). The travelers enjoy local filter coffee (2:07) and have breakfast at Prashanti Hotel, known for its South Indian snacks (2:25).
Godavari River Bridges (3:03): The video showcases the historical and modern bridges over the Godavari River in Rajahmundry, including the Road Rail Bridge (3:15), the old Havelock Bridge (3:38), and the elegant Arch Rail Bridge (3:51). The significance of the river for sacred rituals is also noted (4:20).
Dowleswaram Barrage (5:06): The travelers visit the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage, also known as the Dowleswaram Barrage, which plays a crucial role in regulating the river's flow and feeding the delta (7:15).
Confluence at Antarvedi (8:42): The journey continues to Antarvedi, where the Vashishtha Godavari meets the Bay of Bengal (8:55), offering a memorable experience at the river's mouth (12:17).
Yanam Exploration (13:44): A visit to Yanam, a Union Territory, reveals French colonial influences, including the St. Ann's Catholic Church (14:26), and significant statues like the "sacred bath" of Shivaling by elephants (Abhishek) (14:50) and Telugu Thalli (15:07).
Drive to Hyderabad (15:44): Day five involves a 435-kilometer drive to Hyderabad, passing by the Andhra Paper Limited (15:52) and experiencing the extensive outer ring road (17:54) before arriving at their comfortable homestay in Gachibowli (18:50).
It is emphasised that our focus has been on the Godavari River and we have not delved into other aspects, such as the prominence of Rajahmundry as the Cultural Capital of Andhra Pradesh and birthplace of Telugu literature. Likewise, we did not have time to visit the sacred Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in Antarvedi. Yanam too was covered only fleetingly since it was already dark by the time we reached there and the time at our disposal was limited.
