Hi, I am Daniel with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at, I'm gonna show you how to install the REDARC Tow-Pro Liberty brake controller on our 2022 Ram 2500. Having a brake controller in your vehicle is gonna allow you to control those brakes on your camper or trailer, and a lot of times it is enforced by the law to have one. So it is good to have one, as well as it's just there so you can come to a safe stop. And that manual override function could save your life if you are in a sway situation. This brake controller does have proportional braking, and all that really means is how hard you press on that brake pedal, it's gonna be the same pressure on your camper. So if you press it really hard, you can come to a sudden stop, or you can come to a nice, gentle stop.

Now, this brake controller is suitable for campers that have up to two axles. Now this is a 2500, so it's capable of towing quite a lot. So if you do need a brake controller that can handle a camper up to three axles, we do have the Tow-Pro Elite. Now the Tow-Pro series is really nice 'cause it does have a small knob that can mount pretty much anywhere on your cab, and a lot of these newer vehicles have a ton of electronics packed into them. So having a larger brake controller, like maybe the Tekonsha, might not be something you're into.

And this is where we decided to mount our brake controller. It was just a blank spot on this center console, which is really nice. It kind of looks OEM with all the other knobs we have here. And you see there's a blue light on there, and that's on the zero.

And you can turn this all the way up to 10, and that's gonna increase your braking power. Now I'm gonna press on the brakes. And you can see, when it's at 10, it's gonna be the brightest red. And when you go to the lower numbers, it's gonna slowly turn to that blue. So it's gonna go a color spectrum basically between those.

To enact that manual override, all you have to do is press down on that button, and you can see that light turning red. And that's just gonna enact those brakes to be light pressure so it can correct a sway situation. Now you can actually turn this up while pushing it down, and that will increase that braking power too. This is a pretty simple brake controller, but those lights could be blinking in different orientations and that can tell you some errors if those do occur. So just check your owner's manual, they have a really good guide, and then they'll help you kind of figure out what's going on. But as far as the installation of this goes, it's not too bad. It's actually plug and play with that custom harness. Now, you are gonna have to drill some holes in parts of your dash. But if you wanna tackle this yourself, follow along and I'll walk you through how we got this installed. First off, we wanna find a spot for our button. Now there's a lot of places you can do this, and you need to make sure that the spot has enough room behind it as well because this is going to be, what's going to be behind the button. So I looked at a couple of our videos and I saw right here is a viable option. So I figured it would look pretty good right there. That's a nice open spot and it would look pretty OEM. So what we'll do is we'll get this entire single console removed so we can get this mounted right there. Can't really put this anywhere as long as it fits. I was thinking somewhere on the console in this area, but the steering wheel kind of hides it there. You can put it on the left side. So pretty much anywhere. But like I said, we'll go with right there. So, first off, on the top here, I'm gonna remove this plastic. And behind that there's gonna be two screws. So looks like there are gonna be a Torx bit. So I'll grab that size and take those out. With two fasteners removed, we can just yank on this and get this to remove. There's gonna be clips going down, so I'm gonna grab here and just pull straight back. (panel popping
