“Ave Maria” is a sacred work for the concert stage, exploring a flowing texture that wraps itself around and through the ancient Latin text. From the cascading beginning to a darker, liquid texture in the middle, a sense of abstract color pervades this work. Therefore it should be interpreted with a priority on sound sculpting rather than on textual emphasis.
