This is part of the final lesson in the book (Maintaining good form). It covers three exercises and is called 'Good and bad technique on the treadmill'.
A treadmill not only gives a smooth, even surface under foot, but it also reduces external factors and enables you to focus on certain aspects of your running action.
In these exercises, you will be highlighting the difference between good and bad technique using three different ways of accelerating. First, I get you to simulate two common errors of technique that runners fall into when trying to accelerate: accelerating by advancing your foot in an over-stride, and accelerating by unnecessarily increasing your cadence. After you have seen how both of these acceleration techniques involve a lot of effort, I then get you to try accelerating by increasing the power of your take-off to spend more time in the air. Once you can do this, you will find that the latter technique is easier and by far the most efficient way to accelerate. #runningtechnique #treadmillrunning #runningtips.
