Aulenbach's Cemetery in Reading Pennsylvania has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1853. With over 3000 graves, including over 1200 veterans from many different wars, the cemetery has served those in Berks County for decades. However, within the sea of headstones you will find one very interesting looking statue marking the final resting place for the Weiand family. This figure of what looks to be a little girl draped in a toga and holding flowers is sadly today missing its head and right arm. The legend goes that one evening a group of kids came to the cemetery and vandalized the statue, breaking off the limbs. During their drive home they were involved in a horrible car accident that took each of their lives. Accounts say that the kids were all decapitated and lost their right arms in the crash, and that the head and arm of the statue were found in the trunk of the vehicle. It’s said that the spirit of the two year old girl Rosie who is buried at that site lead to the kids deaths, and that to this day she still haunts the cemetery and anyone who dares deface her statue.
