George discussed the Jameel Observatory's use of data modelling to monitor, forecast and support anticipatory action against outbreaks of acute hunger in eastern Africa, and the new Jameel Index, a platform launched by @jwafs_mit, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research, the @OxMartinSchool, @IFPRI, and UAE University, that models countries' vulnerability to disruptions in food trade.
