Before founding her atmospheric, electronic solo project Art School Girlfriend, Polly Mackey came from a background in shoegaze and dream pop. On The Peaks, from her new album Lean In, those two sides of her musical personality come together, with atmospheric guitars and vocals underpinned by glitchy synth pads and layered drum samples.
Ahead of the album's release, we visited Mackey in her London studio to break down how the track came together in Ableton Live.
