LOCAL is a documentary film that tells a captivating story about the development of a small biking community in the Jeseniky Mountains, Czech Republic. It is an overview of the beginnings of cycling in Mala Moravka and Karlov, focusing on the very first freeride competitions, the evolution of bike parks, and the subsequent development and future of this beautiful valley.




Nestled in the heart of the Jeseniky Mountains in the Czech Republic lies a picturesque village called Mala Moravka. This valley has become the beating heart of the cycling community. The story begins about two decades ago, when a handful of us were captivated by other biking communities around the world, predominantly from the distant lands of Canada, Whistler, and North Shore. Their films became our bible, their riding style our aspiration, and their passion for the sport ignited our own.

We were thrilled with this way of life. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary. The landscape of this place began to transform as we dug our first man-made trails, hosted our first freeride competitions and built our very first bike parks. With each new addition, our community flourished, and the level of riding soared to new heights; we just wanted higher, bigger, further.

Today, Mala Moravka and Karlov symbolizes an unparalleled bike haven mostly among Czechs, Slovaks, and Poles, welcoming everyone from fearless five-year-olds learning their first bike steps to their moms and dads roaming the blue and red flow trails, as well as the pro riders who come here for exhibitions, competitions, photo sessions, and training.

As we look ahead, the future of our valley shines brightly. But it's not just about the trails or the tricks—it's about the spirit of collaboration that binds us together. In this valley, cooperation isn't just a choice; it's the very foundation upon which our shared passion thrives.
