here is an AEG L64810 6kg 1400rpm washing machine which i acquired from brandon @HooverA3060, since he was getting rid of it and he wasn't able to sell it on after quite a while of trying to. anyway, for its first video, i am running a load of towels through a cotton/linen 95° cycle.
this machine has a slightly lower main wash water level compared to the aquacycle, although fills in very much the same way. it has standard tumbling action, as usual for brushed electrolux machines. it does reach a higher temperature than my other electrolux machines have, at ~84°C. IZ has appeared to exceed this during a maintenance wash, however i have not been able to prove this with the wire probe thermometer yet so we don't count it.
the spins have typical electrolux programming - wash interm 850rpm, rinse interms 1000rpm, and usual holds of 450, 650, 850, 1000, 1150 and 1400 (max for this machine). it has very similar balancing logic to aquacycle, where the 450rpm burst doesn't care but the main burst can be a little sensitive at times. although, this sensitivity is not as bad as it was on aquacycle.
the rinsing logic is the same as aquacycle, where it fills to a low level then if it needs to refill it does a long timed refill. this rinsing logic means that it always rinses deeply, and ends up being extremely wasteful for small loads. interestingly, there is another method of rinsing where it tumble fills until around drum rim level, then does a shorter refill if required. i have only seen this method occur with big loads.
something different from other electrolux machines of this era that i have featured is, this machine defaults to 2 rinses and will add on the 3rd rinse if it feels it is required - likely for absorbent loads. aquacycle had 3 by default and removed a rinse if it activated auto half load, and IZ doesn't sense the load so always has 3 rinses.
the final spin reaches a speed of 1360rpm and holds this for 2 minutes, which is pretty good. the only downside is, the motor (ACC with the old FHP design) doesn't sound very powerful despite reaching a good speed. it could probably easily do 1600rpm with the same setup.
i was surprised by the energy consumption being as high as it was, maybe i should re-test IZ with a full load of towels on a boilwash and see how much energy that machine uses. then i can update this description in future to reflect my findings.
energy usage for this cycle was 2.827kWh.
