"Protests are taking place all over India against the ongoing strikes. These strikes should stop and a solution should be sought through dialogue. But Israel is not ready to listen. The Indian government is indulging in mere lip service, not putting any pressure on Israel. We want that practical actions should be taken against this and Indian government should threaten to sever its ties with Israel."

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Muslim protesters gathered outside old Delhi's historic Jama Masjid mosque on Friday to protest the continuing Israeli raids on Gaza.
The protesters burnt an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and the Israeli flag amidst chants of "Israel, down, down".
Maulana Nawabuddin Naqshbandi, a representative of the Jama Masjid mosque, demanded that the Indian government step up pressure on Israel to halt the air strikes.
He said the Indian government was indulging in "mere lip service, not putting any pressure on Israel".
Naqshbandi said Indian Muslims wanted the Indian government to threaten to sever ties with Israel.
Earlier, the protesters laid down an Israeli flag on the steps of the Jama Masjid before the Friday prayers, allowing Muslim worshippers to walk over it.
