In this first episode of the MX5 rust repair series, we begin the full strip down of the car in preparation for replacing the chassis rails and sills.
The car has significant corrosion issues, so before any cutting or welding can begin, the interior, dash, carpets, and trim all need to come out. In this video we:
• Remove the dashboard
• Strip out the interior and carpets
• Disconnect wiring and interior components
• Prepare the shell for chassis rail and sill replacement
This is the start of a full structural repair series where we’ll be cutting out rust, fabricating panels, and rebuilding the strength of the shell properly.
