Well, this was a bust. Does increasing my top speed improve my endurance at lower speeds? Not today, it didn't.
I tried to see how long I can sprint at 17.0 mph (27.36 kph) and compare my performance to the first time I sprinted 17.0 mph, but I hardly did any better at all. Then after a short rest, I tried it again at 16.0 mph (25.75 kph), and again I wasn't significantly better than I was when my top speed was only 16.0 mph.
That's very disappointing, but maybe a learning opportunity. I'm guessing I need to train for sprinting endurance in addition to maximum top speed. Also, after a few hours of rest, my hips hurt a lot, way more than normal for just the 2 sprints I did today. I had physical therapy on Thursday that included a new exercise, and I had some muscles that were very sore on Friday. Maybe those weren't recovered enough as of this morning, which might be why I didn't do better and why I hurt so much now. We'll see how long it takes to recover fully, but I hope I'm well enough to try and succeed next week at my huge double-milestone: 18 mph, which is also 29 kph!
For my first attempt at 18 mph & 29 kph, I ordered a live stream camera that was supposed to let me stream at 4K resolution, but shipping was estimated to be about 2 weeks, so I decided to postpone my first 18 mph & 29 kph attempt until I had that camera. However, the camera came earlier than expected, and I could not get it to work at 4K with my computer, so I returned it. I could've changed my schedule again to try for 18.0 mph (29 kph) today, but I decided not to. I don't know why I didn't, but considering how poorly I performed today, I'm glad I didn't.
Stay tuned if you want to see my successes and failures, and in the meantime, keep walking, running, or sprinting!
