This was our hike along the southern ridge of the Val Ferret valley along with a climb over the Grand Col Ferret (8,323 FT), the border between Italy and Switzerland. We finished the day at Auberge du Glaciers in Switzerland.
This was by far one of the most scenic days of the tour. We stopped at Refuge Elena on the way up to Grand Col Ferret and enjoyed some food and the company of a German couple who shared some coffee with us.
On the way down we walked the wrong way out of Alpage de la Peule and trusted another hiker who pointed us in the direction of the TMB (he was wrong) and we hiked a mile or so more than planned over a hillier terrain than the TMB would have brought us into La Fouly.
At Auberge du Glaciers we asked for a private room and were given what seemed to be a closed turned into a room - complete with a TV - that had no place to plug it in LOL! Also, the door wouldn't lock...
We opted out of the free dinner consisting of an Indian dish and instead ate some Italian food which was delicious. Overall a long, but great day and decent accommodations.
