Join Ravenglass Railway Museum Archivist Dave Simpson for a look at civil engineering of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway from 1875 to the present day..
From Glencoe Folk Museum : Something something HS2 - just getting the obvious joke out the way early.
From CG : That wall below the cattle creep was partly rebuilt again by "Polish" Pete about 4 or 5 years ago
From Biggles : Reacted to "Something something ..." with 😂
From Biggles : I can easily believe 20,000T!! I’ve just dug out a 4m x 2m area for a polytunnel in clay soil and that was 3T!!
From CG : 1994 for Sian as well
From SD : How long did the construction of Gilberts Cutting take? Was the line severed throughout the construction?
From DAC : If Captain Howey had built his extension to Ambleside it would have included tunnels
From DAC : and perhaps spirals
From R&GN : When the Preservation Society took over the R&GN Ry., Norman Sandley had about a foot scraped off the top of the grade out near the west end so that the little 4-4-0s could pull the hill.
From TS : never heard of bogies being turned, rail from 1964cutting to the walls at dalegarth 1977 ish then to dalegarth siding in the mid 90's need to check dates
From TS : sorry wi fi bad here but rail was moved on those dates ish
