The Regional Rail Link Deer Park - West Werribee Junction team has removed the final rock under Deer Park Bypass to create the tunnel trains will run through when the project is complete.
The final 'punch through' of the tunnel was the culmination of six months of complex engineering work and a key milestone for the team and for the project.
Track will be laid under the Deer Park Bypass in early 2014. Variable speed limits and altered lanes will be in place on the bypass until that time.
