This is an account of one of the first commercial treks in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Led in 1972 by Warwick Deacock of Ausventure, and accompanied by film crew Michael Dillon and Russell Brown, the group of Australians and New Zealanders trekked from Pokhara to Jomson, and glimpsed from a high ridge the then forbidden landscape beyond there, including Mustang.
This film was sold to BBC Television and other TV networks and screened at Himalayan Film festivals around Australia, and thus helped fast track the public awareness of the delights of Himalayan trekking. The film crew themselves fell under the spell of Nepal, with Russell Brown returning many times to lead treks, and Michael Dillon, returning there over 20 times to film, including many projects with Sir Edmund Hillary, the Himalayan Trust and the Australian Himalayan Foundation.
