If you’ve been dealing with nagging discomfort around the front of your knee—especially when going up or down stairs, squatting, or getting active—you might be experiencing patellofemoral pain syndrome. It’s a common condition we see in our clinic, and there’s good news: targeted rehab movements can make a big difference.
This week we are demonstrating a go-to exercise we use in the clinic to begin reconditioning the tendon at the front of the knee. With the help of our assistant Cameron, we walk through a simple and effective movement designed to improve how that tendon handles everyday stress.
This exercise focuses on eccentric loading—training the muscle and tendon while it’s lengthening—which helps remodel and strengthen the tissue over time. It’s a foundational tool we use with patients experiencing knee pain from patellofemoral issues, and best of all, it’s something you can start gently and progress at your own pace.
