Tonight I’m making an easy dinner for two with cabbage and meatballs on jacket potatoes, using only what we’ve already got in the house.
I’m often asked what meals I create from my haul goods, and this is one of those meals. These meatballs came from a £1 bag in a recent haul, and tonight I’m showing you one of the ways I turn that haul item into a proper dinner for two. I’ll also pop a few photos on screen of other simple meals from recent hauls – a quick cheese twists lunch, a lovely ploughman’s lunch with pork pie, sausage, salad, ciabatta and chutney, and an evening bowl of minced beef with peppers, onions, courgette and thick noodles in a tomato sauce. Real, everyday meals from the things you’ve already seen in my shopping.
The meatballs were £1 for a bag of about 50, and I’m using 8 per person – so the meat for this whole meal is roughly 32p. The cabbage is half left from a previous week, the jacket potatoes are from a bulk buy, and everything else is coming from my cupboards and freezer.
This is a simple, no-fuss, real-life meal for two that works if you’re watching your budget, trying to waste less, or just need a quick idea for dinner without running back to the shops.
