The summit brought together key European and international decision-makers, law enforcement authorities, multinational companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), consumer representatives, and other relevant players to discuss ways to improve protection and enforcement of IP rights in the EU and around the globe.

The summit focused on how innovative solutions and further cooperation can best tackle IP crime in the context of the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT). It will also be an opportunity to continue the discussion about the EU Toolbox against counterfeiting, building on, in particular, the Digital Services Act.

IBÁN GARCÍA DEL BLANCO
Member of the European Parliament

Ibán García del Blanco started a full-time career in politics serving from local to national administration. As a lawyer, he majored in cultural management. Before his election as a member of the European Parliament (EP) in May 2019, he was the Executive President of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), an agency providing public support to the promotion of culture, both in Spain and overseas.

At the EP, he is the coordinator of the S&D Group in the Legal Affairs Committee, where he was appointed rapporteur for the legislative initiative report on An ethical framework for artificial intelligence, robotics and related technologies.

García del Blanco is a member of the Petitions Committee, substitute member of the Culture and Education Committee, and he contributes to the works of the Delegation with the Andean countries and the EUROLAT Parliamentary Assembly.

Within his political party, the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), García del Blanco has served as a member of the Federal Executive Commission in charge of Culture and Sports for the last four years. He is also a member of the Royal Board of the National Library of Spain.
