Stoicism is everywhere right now. 15-second clips. Bravado. Fake toughness. But what if the "stoicism" you're being sold online is actually making you weaker?⁣

A few days ago, a writer and teacher named Paul Ruth shared an article that stopped me cold. He sees his students getting "falsely inspired" by a distorted version of this ancient philosophy online. And he’s right.⁣

I’m calling out the toxic pattern I call "Bravado-ism"—the performance of strength that is actually emotional suppression. It’s a caricature that’s actively harming young men, ambitious entrepreneurs, founders, and high-performers who are desperately searching for a mental operating system that actually works.⁣

Real Stoicism is not about not caring. It’s not about shutting down emotions or becoming cold and detached. That’s useless. Real Stoicism, as Marcus Aurelius practiced it, is about internal order. It’s about discipline, not indifference. It’s about having power over your mind, not the outside events.⁣
