How To restore your Cars Headlights | Step by Step

I restored my Grand Cherokees Headlights!

There are way more ways to restore and finish headlights, but here you can see a pretty easy way.

What you need:
Orbital Sander
Dry sanding paper 100-400 grit
Wet sanding paper 600-4000 grit
soft interface disc (very important...!)
Water and spray bottle
Rotary polishing machine
Polishing compound and finish polishing paste

How To:
You can either mask fender and bumpers and restore your headlights while theyre still assembled to your car, or take them off
clean them with water
sand down dry from 100 or 240 (depending on the condition) - 400 grit, but just the front side, to avoid sanding through the edges. Sand in crisscross patterns (4-6 times each)
sand wet from 600 to 4000 grit - as soon as you sand with 1000 grit, start HANDsand the edges. Sand in crisscross patterns (4-6 times each)
polish with the rotary polisher: start with compound and finish with the finishing paste.
you can add a wax optional

Notes:
please wear a mask - the plastics arent good for your lungs
old headlights start getting yellow because of gasing. After restoring them, they will get blind within the following year again, because the process of gasing is unstoppable

Facts:
I needed 2 sanding discs of eacht grit
took me around 1 hour for 1 headlight (including removing and re-installation)
this process is illegal in germany...:-D
