Nitesh Rane on Tapovan Tree Cutting : नाशिक आणि त्र्यंबकेश्वर येथे होणारा कुंभमेळा वादाच्या भोवऱ्यात सापडलाय. नाशिकमध्ये अंदाजे 400 एकर वर साधू ग्राम तयार केलं जात आहे ज्यात अंतर्गत रस्ते शौचालय पाणीपुरवठा आणि वीजपुरवठा यासारख्या सुविधा या पुरविल्या जाणार आहेत. यासाठी साधारण 1800 झाडं तोडली जाणार आहेत. यावरून पर्यावरण प्रेमी विरूद्ध प्रशासन असा संघर्ष उभा राहिलाय.

Nashik's Tapovan holds profound significance in Hindu mythology, famously referenced in the Ramayana as the sacred location where Lord Rama spent part of his exile and performed a holy dip in the Godavari River. This historic area is now the center of a major environmental conflict. The city is preparing to host millions of visitors and sadhus for the prestigious Simhastha Kumbh Mela, a massive pilgrimage held once every 12 years. The upcoming Mela is scheduled for an extended period between 2026 and 2028. To accommodate the influx of pilgrims, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed a controversial development project that involves the clearing of an estimated 1,825 trees within Tapovan's crucial eco-sensitive area.
