The opening solo lick (motif) that Gene Ammons plays on this recording of "Blue Gene," is a great one to have in your armoury of harmonica licks and ideas. The tune is in F (Bb harmonica 2nd position) but of course, once you have got the lick down you can play it on different key harmonicas. Here it is:
-2, -3, 4, -4, -3, -2" and the continuation is: -3", 3, 2, 2. (-2 = 2 draw, 4 = blow, -3" = 3 draw with full step bend).
