Sara Seager, MIT, Professor of Planetary Sciences, Professor of Physics, and Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics is a planetary scientist and astrophysicist. She holds the Class of 1941 Professor Chair. She has pioneered many research areas of characterizing exoplanets with concepts and methods that now form the foundation of the field of exoplanet atmospheres.
For the Thursday, March 26, 2021 Purdue University Department of Physics and Astronomy Hubert M. James Lecture, “EXOPLANETS And the Search for Atmospheric Biosignature Gases”, she will discuss her present research focus on the search for life by way of exoplanet atmospheric “biosignature” gases.
The Department of Physics and Astronomy established the Hubert James Lecture in 1990 thanks to the generosity of the James family and in recognition of Prof. James’s outstanding service to Purdue University from 1936 to 1974.
