Paint a Handmade Birthday Card With Me | Watercolour & Coloured Pencil Poppies | Mixed Media Art

Описание: Today I’m creating a handmade birthday card inspired by poppies using a mix of watercolour and coloured pencils.

I started the card with watercolour, painting three open poppies and three small buds on the left side of the composition. After the first layer dried, I added coloured pencil details to deepen the reds of the petals and bring more texture to the leaves.

On the right side, I hand-lettered the phrase “Sending Birthday Love” in ultramarine blue and surrounded it with small hearts. The lettering was a little tricky, so I refined it with a marker and coloured pencil until the shapes felt balanced.

This mixed media process is one of my favourite ways to experiment in my sketchbook. Starting with watercolour and then layering coloured pencils helps bring softness, depth, and contrast to the illustration.

• Markers, fine point, Sharpie.
