The gravel road I had planned to take from Vanderkloof Dam to Philippolis was closed to the public so we had to take a detour of almost 200km to reach our destination, which meant we would only arrive in the dark. This actually gave us the opportunity to see this little town in a different light to how we normally see the places we visit. Since we arrived too late to explore, we booked into our accommodation at the Philippolis Hotel for the night, enjoyed pizza for supper and woke up ready for a day to explore. Situated in the middle of South Africa, this amazing town has a rich history and so many places of interest.
