Day 12: Ardovie Forest to Montrose – 13.5 miles | 21.73 km
Woke up with mixed emotions—starting the last day. Part of me didn’t want it to end… and another part really wanted to be in Montrose already.
Made my way through fields and roads, passed by several baronial estates and caught a glimpse of Kinnaird Castle (sorta). Finally got water again—thankfully—because I was parched.
From there, it was all downhill (well, mostly uphill) to Ferryden, and then I practically sprinted the final stretch into Montrose and straight to the beach. Soaked my feet. Took a moment. It was done.
Walked into Challenge Control and checked in. Just like that—it was finished.
It’s all surreal. Tracked 201.25 miles | 323.82 km, and it was all worth it. The delayed flights, the confusion with trains and buses, the reroutes from forestry chaos. Every sore mile I earned here in Scotland was a gift. ’Til next time.
