Drawer Balcony House is an innovative residence designed by NAF Architect & Design in Setagaya City, Japan, covering 106 m². The house features a cantilevered balcony that serves as a multifunctional space and entrance porch, allowing residents to enjoy the outdoors while maintaining privacy. Its interior adopts a skip floor concept, connecting the first and second floors through an open staircase that doubles as a bookshelf and storage, creating a dynamic circulation and fostering interaction among family members. Despite being located in a dense urban area with strict regulations, the house feels spacious due to a void that maximizes natural light and ventilation, as well as a steel-framed staircase replacing conventional pillars for a more open feel. The exterior is clad in textured cement panels, while the corners are finished with handcrafted metal sheets, resulting in a unique yet harmonious appearance. This house serves as an inspiration for compact urban dwellings, combining functionality, comfort, and aesthetic appeal.
