The Chevrolet Corvette C7, produced from 2014–2019, was the seventh generation of the iconic sports car. Originally intended as a mid-engine supercar, the Great Recession forced GM to compromise and keep the engine in front. The C7 was the first Corvette to use the Stingray name since 1976.
Design: The C7 had an edgy, angular style, a muscular front end, and taillights that differed from previous models. It borrowed some design cues from the C6, like exposed headlights.
Engine: The base LT1 6.2-liter V8 engine produced 450 hp and was paired with a 7-speed manual or 6/8-speed automatic transmission.
Production: Due to GM's bankruptcy, production didn't begin until late 2013, delaying the C7's impact on the industry. Chevrolet invested millions to overhaul their Bowling Green, Kentucky plant for C7 production.
Racing: The C7.R racing variant won the GTLM 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Legacy: The C7 is expected to be the last front-engine Corvette, as its successor, the C8, has a mid-engine layout.
