During the start of the hearing on Monday (February 23), Iulia Motoc, the presiding judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Pre-Trial Chamber I, explained the significance and the rules of the confirmation of charges hearing.
The proceedings will determine whether there is enough evidence to formally proceed to trial in the case against former president Rodrigo Duterte, who faces allegations of crimes against humanity linked to the country’s drug war.
