An alumna of P.S. 221 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Dr. Tischelle George is now Vice President for Learning and Development at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), where she helps ensure employees across the agency have the training and knowledge they need to provide safe, quality housing to New Yorkers.
She still points to a high school guidance counselor, Mrs. Marianne Finn, who encouraged her to aim for college, even when paying for school felt uncertain. That steady belief helped Dr. George to see new possibilities for herself and pursue them with confidence.
Today, she wants students at her alma mater to have that same feeling. The P.S. 221 Toussaint L'Ouverture Alumni Community Scholarship Dr. George organized is showing students that their community believes in their college and career success.
