The Swadharma Sammelan 2026 was held at Itanagar with a strong emphasis on safeguarding indigenous faith, cultural values, and traditional practices. The day-long programme witnessed participation from community members, scholars, and cultural groups from different parts of the state.
The event began with traditional chanting and prayers, followed by presentations and cultural performances reflecting the rich spiritual heritage of the Nyishi and other indigenous communities. Cultural displays by youths from Donyi Polo Ganging, Itanagar, and artists from Lekhi highlighted traditional songs, rituals, and customs.
Addressing the gathering, speakers stressed the importance of protecting native belief systems and passing cultural knowledge to future generations. Discussions focused on challenges faced by indigenous faiths and the need for collective efforts to preserve cultural identity.
Chairman of Swadharma Sammelan, Dr Byabang Rana, in his address, highlighted the significance of unity in strengthening traditional values. Other speakers also shared views on cultural preservation, social harmony, and awareness among the youth.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Techi Upen Tara, Secretary of Swadharma Sammelan.
