TRIP REPORT | First Time on Swiss A330! | Boston to Zurich | SWISS Airbus A330

Описание: Swiss Trip Report flying from Boston to Zurich onboard one of the Swiss Airbus A330 on a beautiful night over the Atlantic and morning over Europe.

A comfortable flight onboard the Swiss Airbus A330-300 from Boston to Zurich. The A330 still offers the 2-4-2 seat configuration, which is perfect for those seated on the window seats. This was also my first time flying from Boston Airport and, of course, it's also for the channel.

After a nice planespotting session at Boston airport, we boarded our A330 and took off from Boston just a few minutes after the scheduled time of departure. Just a few seconds after liftoff we made a steep turn to the left and set course towards the North-Atlantic ocean. Ahead of us around 7 hours of flight.

Around 3 hours after takeoff the Sunrise started in the middle of the North-Atlantic ocean. As always in these cases, it was me and Sunrise. Everyone on the plane was sleeping. It's a really magical moment. Everything is silent, nobody is moving.

Regarding the onboard service, the crew served just after departure the main catering service (dinner service). There were 2 options: pasta with vegetables or chicken with rice. I went for the chicken option. It came with a very basic salad (lettuce and carrot), bread, butter and cheese, and a little piece of cake as dessert.

In general, it was quite good. Not the best, of course, but not the worst either. Definitely better than the main airline in the Lufthansa Group. As the portions weren't really big, I asked for another main meal. In this case, was the vegetarian option. The cake, by the way, was terrible. But I was so hungry that I decided to eat it in 2 bites just to fill my stomach for the next 6 hours.

I would also like to mention that it's clear that these A330s are at the end of their career in Swiss: the IFEs are entirely outdated, there are no sockets (just a super-slow USB charger) and seats, although they were quite comfortable, they looked old.

As a final conclusion, I would also like to point out that it's really sad to see how iconic airlines are downgrading more and more the economy class service. Looks like every airline touched by the Lufthansa Group got the order to cut costs to the max level. Lufthansa's service is just a joke compared to what it was. Swiss, from what I've seen in some old Trip Reports on Youtube is starting to follow the same path. I'm curious about how the Austrian Airlines long-haul service is. Luckily, we'll see it soon on the channel!
