Описание: 6/5/24: In this Tech@Lunch session... You will learn about Optical fiber sensors (OFS). They are increasingly used for the monitoring of strain, temperature, pressure etc… in assets, owing to their many advantages compared to their traditional electronic counterparts: they have a small diameter, they are immune to electromagnetic interference and crosstalk, they are corrosion resistant, and they can be multiplexed. Compare for example hundreds of strain sensors within a single optical fiber to the cabling complexity of the same number of strain gauges. In this tutorial, Flanders Make@VUB will give a brief overview of the operational principles of 1) point-based OFS, 2) fully distributed OFS, and 3) specialty OFS, as well as concrete case studies to showcase their potential for asset monitoring.
