Baclofen is commonly used for controlling spasticity after a spinal cord injury (SCI). It is difficult to increase the dosage of baclofen if it is taken orally (due to side effects like sleepiness). The solution is a pump the size of a hockey puck implanted under the skin that pumps baclofen directly to the spinal cord, aka "intrathecally".
