A parallel session promoted by ACRA (‪@acra_ong‬ ), ESTà , and AfriFOODlinks (‪@UrbanFoodSystems‬ ), as part of the MUFPP Global Forum 2025 (13–17 October, Milan).

How can we sustain long-term food policy transitions starting from short-term projects (4 years)? This is the central question of the session, bringing together cities and partners from the AfriFOODlinks project. The panel takes the project as a case study and broadens the focus, exploring how short-term initiatives can generate frameworks and governance tools that foster long-term policies. The event connects local experiences with European Union (EU) and African Union (AU) policy frameworks and future investment opportunities, highlighting strategies to ensure continuity, ownership, and resilience in African food systems. Starting from the premise that a participatory approach is essential to assess the real impact of urban food policies, the session shares effective experiences and good practices from different contexts to develop innovative strategies for transforming short-term projects into long-term structural change.
