This late night solo folk button accordion acoustic instrumental interprets “Heaven” by Talking Heads, the reflective ballad from their 1979 album “Fear of Music.” First released on August 3, 1979, the record marked the band’s third studio album and deepened their blend of art rock, new wave, and nervy, minimalist grooves.
Talking Heads—David Byrne, Jerry Harrison, Tina Weymouth, and Chris Frantz—emerged from the mid‑1970s New York CBGB scene and became known for fusing punk energy with funk, world music, and conceptual lyrics. “Heaven” stands out in their catalogue for its gentle melody and paradoxical lines about a place “where nothing ever happens,” a contrast to the album’s darker tracks.
The original studio version on “Fear of Music” was produced by Brian Eno and Talking Heads, with Byrne on vocals and guitar, Harrison on guitar and keyboards, Weymouth on bass, and Frantz on drums. A celebrated live rendition appears in the 1984 concert film “Stop Making Sense,”
