A Highland‑tinged folk button accordion take on The Who’s “Baba O’Riley,” turning its iconic synth and guitar anthem into a windswept acoustic meditation. This solo accordion version swaps the synth loop for bellows and drones, aiming to sound like a lost tune carried across a rainy moor.
Originally the opening track on the band’s fifth studio album Who’s Next, released August 2, 1971, the song was written by Pete Townshend and produced by The Who with Glyn Johns, who helped shape its powerful, spacious sound.
The title blends references to composer Terry Riley and Indian spiritual teacher Meher Baba, while the famous “teenage wasteland” line came from Townshend’s reaction to the trash‑strewn fields after festivals like Woodstock and the Isle of Wight. On the original recording, Roger Daltrey handles lead vocals, Townshend plays guitar and organ, John Entwistle provides bass, Keith Moon is on drums, and Dave Arbus adds the climactic violin solo.
