I finally had some time tackle a long awaited, motor rebuild, for my custom built dirt bike. Life gets busy and it has been sitting in the shed for the past few years collecting dust. It's time to bring'r back to life.
This is a piranha YX 160cc.
The center case was cracked and it needed a new cylinder. In this video, I'm installing the new case half, putting in the piston, re-installing the shifter assembly, kick starter assembly and gears, clutch basket, cylinder, head, cam sprocket and chain, clutch covers and ofcourse tightening a shit ton of bolts in the process.
Working on engines and mechanical things is like therapy to some, so I thought I'd include this timelapse for kicks. If you're into mechanics and engineering, I highly recommend, atleast once in your life, to take apart a motorcycle or car transmission and really try to understand how it works... you will quickly realize the amount of thought, innovation, ingenuity and intelligence required to design and engineer something like that, it's almost out of this world, almost alien...
